I have a stihl 031AV. A real beast and workhorse, and bought used about 15 years ago.

I wanted to look into another one, but there are so many model numbers out there, I'm lost. I searched for a site to date stihl chainsaws but can not find anything. Maybe I'm not looking correctly.

Can anyone help? Anyone know anything about dates/models or do you know of a site?

There are plenty of used saws. But it seems nobody actually lists the year it was manufactured.

Thank you.

From what I could find stihl only put date codes in the serial number on certain models but you may be able to find something here:
