View Full Version : How many swarms?

I stepped out of my bee trailer about an hour ago to see a number of bees in the air. On one side of the door, there were bees covering a hive that had been empty until now.

Looking to the right, there were two boxes with bees working in and out. I had no bees here yesterday. Is it 3 swarms, 2 swarms, with one getting mixed up on the two boxes side by side, or is it only one swarm that split when they got here, and will reunite later today?

What is your guess?

I'm guessing a single swarm, they will all come together by evening...

it may well be one swarm, but it may have two or more queens in it,so they might have split when they found a new home, instead of queens killing each other

One swarm.

One swarm seems to be right. The one box is 10 frames of bees and they are only entering one other box now. There are only a few at the second box, so will likely go to the first box tomorrow.
