A few weeks ago, I posted a video at the start of an experiment that I was doing for my own interest. Every second frame that I installed in a super on my hive was foundationless. I inserted only a small wax starter strip on each frame.
Two weeks later, I came back to check progress. I was a bit worried that there would be no progress or that the new comb would be crooked or mangled. To my delight, the bees had drawn perfect, white comb. Such wonderful little creatures!
I have posted a new video on YouTube, and I thought I'd link it here because I'm still a beginner and not sure I'm doing everything correctly.
Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke-ekfp11mY
I discovered that my unwired foundation in my second box had fallen sideways. I fixed the problem by trimming it out. I'm not sure if this was the best way to go about things. I'd love to hear what you guys/gals think? What would you have done.
