I received a phone call early one evening in June, it was from a Bed and Breakfast located in Lunenburg. The gentleman on the other end of the line identified himself as Peter Roe, the proprietor of Seville Roe B and B. He was watching a cloud of bees as we talked on the phone, and they had apparently decided to take up residence just above the front door to his establishment. He asked if there was anything that could be done and as luck would have it I was not busy.

Honey bees are having a tough go of it. Pesticides, mites, viruses, mono-floral diets and unpredictable weather are all combining to wreak havoc on honey bee health. Being a beekeeper, I am aware of the many stresses and pressures these industrious little wonders face. Despite the many obstacles facing the profession, I enjoy it and the rewards that go along with it. Bees can get under your skin.
