I am looking to building a vacuum fixture to machine parts on I need to carry 25 plus continuos lbs of vacuum to keep part down while machining. I need a pump that will run continuosly and hold vacuum I will be attaching it to a 20 gallon compressor tank to help maintain the pressure. Is there anyone on the froum that can tell me what kind of pump I need

Re: vacuum pumps
I have never seen a vacuum pump that would carry that much volume. I would try the intake of a 5 or 10 horse compressor, or a large blower fan. I would check with a tech at Grainger or McMaster Carr and see what they recommend.

Re: vacuum pumps
I'd check EBAY Etc. for a milking machine vacuum pump. Our pump on the farm ran 4 machines & had about a 10 gal tank. Good luck.

Re: vacuum pumps
tec yes we use them to hold material down when trying to cut thin material or mill a close tolerance thin floor. you can get away with no clamps at times.
redcrane that may just be the answer Im looking for. I will check into that never even thought about that"If beekeeping was easy everyone would be doing it."

Re: vacuum pumps
Redcrane has the right idea... Out here we have vacuum specialists that do nothing but dairy work.
I think??? Westfallia Surge dominates in your part of the country. Try them and see.
