  1. Hi all, We live in a climate that as soon as it rains, it fogs up- dense enough not to see 15 metres away ( fun driving on windy roads above precipitious drops) and the fog generally stays all day. Winter temperatures go down to about -5 celcius ( 23 deg F), and up to about 5-8 degrees C...
  2. I have been using solid bottom boards on two hives all summer but would like to switch to screened bottoms this weekend. I have heard that this is better for cleanliness and Varroa control. My hive stand is a solid piece of plywood so does this defeat the purpose of the screen not allowing...

    Hi - are there any good guidelines out there for making queens. My GF bought me a queen making kit, but the instructions have no pictures and I am having a hard time following the text directions. Thansk!!
  4. First I use the Nicot system because all the parts match. I do not use the laying cage with the kit. I set up a hive with the cloake board an place the cell bar with cell cups for the bees to polish 24 hours. I then go to my timing box so I know exactly how old the larva is. I purge each cell...
