Wow, small world New Ken is where I work!

The pop top material, I think a 5000 series alloy, was revolutionary. People still talk about the complexity of making a material with the correct properties to hold in the pressure, but brittle enough to pop open. Pretty cool.

I know did tap some pots in the forty plus years he worked there. At the time of his retirement I believe his tiltle was something like " lead processing engineer " dad is a chemical engineer. Alcoa has sent all over the world Austrial, sweden, spain, and and has spent a large portion of his time in the Pitsburgh new kensington area. I believe one of his claims to fame was coming up with the alloy for anheiser bush when then went from the pull tab to the pop top. Yes if you make down this let me know.

Saw your post on you dad working at Alcoa Warrick. I work for Alcoa at the corporate tech center outside of Pittsburgh. I was down for a plant tour last year. We toured the pot lines in July of 2011. It was close to 100°F outside the plant, close to the temp of hell itself next to the pots. God bless your dad if he worked in the potlines, that's a different breed. Maybe I'll look you up if I ever make it back there.
