I have watched videos online and I want to take the next step, which I figure is to actually go to see a hive up close. How do I find a local beekeeper? Phone book only shows exterminators. Online search aren't local. No beekeeping Meet-Up in my area. So I wonder if anyone knows of a good way to find someone local that can take me along for some hive inspections and discussion about management specific for my location.

around here the sheriff's office has a list of people that collects swarms and do cutouts that would be a good start to finding someone to mentor you either them of they will know someone
as crazy as it seems some municipalities dont allow bee keeping, so you can start by calling your local building dept if they do or dont, if they dont then thats why no locals, if they do, try googling bee clubs in your area or even put an add in craigslist on what your looking for , or even social media..its nice to have a mentor you can go and see, but not necessary to start bee keeping, honestly if you have half a brain and can read you will be just fine, even the bee keepers with hundreds of hives run into problems that wipe out half their hives even with all their knowledge, hands on you will learn quick and dont be discouraged if your first hive dies off and you have to buy a new nuc or package to get the hive going again..
