Well I knew I lost the one hive... Yesterday the other 2 hives I noticed they musta took a cleansing flight and got busy cause all the dead bees on the landing boards were moved away and gone!
I'll bet they're also polishing up the empty cells inside to fill them up with a bountiful crop. Don, look forward to a great year ahead.
I was happy when I saw that I wasn't sure if there were too many dead bees there or not! The Maple Syrup is going slow. Only have about 20 gallons of Sap and I won't start boiling til I have at least 50-60 and it's still flowing. Cold snap til at least Monday, maybe longer so I'm thinking I'm gonna have a bit of a wait...
Went for another walk yesterday... Tapped on both hives and both sent a Bee out flying to say Hello!
My two surviving hives were out and flying busily yesterday. Yay! Today my white car is covered in 'happy offerings'. Buying a white car was not smart, but I didn't have bees back then. lol
We are just a bit above freezing (raining a bit today) They have guard bees out and a bit of flying around but no more masses of bees apparently committing mass hypothermic suicide. Maybe that flying out gets rid of the older bees whose time has come to go!
