***Note: With ever increasing supplier price
hikes I am now using Agree WG Bt Aizawai.
Identical to Xentari and it allows me to keep
the prices where they are at. Thanks***

This is a powdered form of Bt aizawai which
is the same as Certan/B401. It only takes 2
to 4 teaspoons to make a gallon of spray
    and
there is an indefinite shelf life on this form prior
to mixing. In short, 1/2 pound of powder will
    make many gallons of spray!

Effective on dozens of garden and orchard pest
as well. Certified Organic for garden use.

IF YOU FIND A LOWER PRICE - I WILL BEAT IT.

Is this the chemical for wax moths? How is it used?

    Yes.
It is a dry granule that has an indefinite shelf life. You mix it with water and spray the drawn comb. The comb is then protected for many years. You do not have to re spray them every year.

Do you have to remove the bees? I don't quite understand. If you detect wax moths, can you then spray them with it, and put the frames back in the hives? What is the procedure?

Are there any temperature limits on storing it or the treated comb? I have had some of mine in an out building that probably has reached 120F or so.

As far as I know, keeping it dry is the only criteria to be concerned with. Once mixed, it has to be used.

Re: Xentari - Bt Aizawai Powder

you do need to use the product soon after mixing. I think it says a couple days. Does that sound right to you Sundance?
I have sprayed frames right out of the hive and had no problems. I prefer to hit empty frames but that doesnt always happen.

Re: Xentari - Bt Aizawai Powder

I had a post on here where I had sprayed 4 shallows with drawn comb in it, had been stored for 20 plus years in my Moms basement garage and looked as good as it did the day I stored it. I had pushed it over in a corner and forgotten about it.

I will check on international shipping. My gut feeling is that it would be too paperwork intensive and/or not allowed at all.

Re: Xentari - Bt Aizawai Powder

My bet is that the wax would melt before any temp limitation that would
damage the Bt spores. But to be safe, I'd keep an eye on the comb that is
    seeing 120 degrees.

It must be used in 3 days after mixing only because as a mix it will rot. Once sprayed
and dried the spores remain viable for years.

    Just want to say I bought some from Sundance several years ago;
    It was delivered very promptly.
No wax moths at all, very well satisfied.

Re: Xentari - Bt Aizawai Powder

Sundance, how do I buy some? I have used Certan and it has been great keeping wax moths away. I read someplace that you can't spray this near bees because it is toxic to them. If it is toxic to them, how can it be put back into the hive?

Re: Xentari - Bt Aizawai Powder

Sorry for long delay!! I screwed up and changed my email address and
forgot to change it here! Duh!!

Bt Aizawai is not toxic to bees or bee larva. It is very target
specific and rated for Organic use on crops.

Thanks and again...... sorry for delay

Received my package of Bt this week. I am wondering if I can spray this on capped supers that I don't intend to extract? Would it be better to freeze my supers instead of using the Bt? These are supers I intend to put back on the hive this winter should my bees run out of stores. If they don't need them, I will put them back on the hive next summer to let them finish filling. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
