Anyone use Api Life Varroa mite from Brushy Mt. Bees...here is some info on it:
"There are numerous ways to control mites. We favor ApiLife Var, which is a mix of essential oils. This was a product recommended by the Colony Collapse Working Group a few years ago. In addition, beekeepers who used it lost 24.5% fewer colonies than beekeepers who didn't use anything and 19% fewer colonies than beekeepers who used other products (results provided by: BeeInformed.org). However, it is temperature sensitive, restricting when it can be applied."

It comes in a ten pack of wafers that you break into pieces and place above the brood nest, 3x or so. It says it is temp sensitive. Anyone know the temps? Also does anyone know the essential oils used? Thanks Halley

Roughly 70 to 90 F. Thymol plus camphor eucalyptus menthol. Dont miss any of the series of treatments or the mites go back into capped cells and you have to wait another 2 weeks to catch them when they emerge. It gets less effective when cooler. Used it last fall on some hives.
