Avatars

Everyone can now have their own avatar. For those that don't know what an avatar is, it's that little picture next to peoples names in their posts.

There are 2 ways to add avatar depending on what kind of picture you want to use. The pictures used for avatars have to be pretty small in size about 100px by 100px. Most personal pictures you may have on your computer are much larger than that so they will have to be reduced in size. If you don't have a graphics program to do this yourself, don't worry , there are tons of places on line that will do it for you for free. Here's a really good one:

Remember to set the avatar size to 100 when creating your avatar.

Next are the steps for adding your avatar to your profile here on the forum.

  • 1. Go to your "User Control Panel"
    2. Click on "profile"
    3. Click on "edit avatar"
    4. If loading your own image click browse next to "Upload from your machine" and choose the file you downloaded from the above avatar creator.
    5. If using one from the gallery then click gallery at the bottom and choose an image.
    6. Last but not least click submit at the bottom of the page.

That's it, you now have an avatar :D

For those that dislike avatars and would rather not see them, you can turn them off in your control panel too. Just go to your control panel and click "board preferences" then click "edit display options". You will see an option here to display avatars yes or no. Change this option to no and click submit at the bottom of the page. That's it, you will not see anyone's avatars now.

If anyone has trouble figuring this out feel free to PM me and I'll help you get it sorted out.

Crap....why didn't I read this first? I have tried placing an avatar and just could not get one to fit. Was pulling my hair out. Tried about 10 different pictures.
