I got a chance to possibly by a nba regulation size maple hardwood basketball court out of an arena that closed down. Its pulled up and in sections. It looks like it is going to go fairly cheap. Would it be possible to relay it in my house for flooring. Has anyone heard of doing this

KU replaced their basketball court floor a few years ago and sold sections of it. I don't know if it's possible, but if it is, what a great story you will have to tell. Actually, people take reclaimed wood and use it in their homes all the time, flooring included.

go for it riverrat. guessing for sure I would speculated that stripping off the old finish is the hardest task involved.

I have a bit (<large understatement) of reclaimed wood in my own house here. matter of fact I have a bit of dance floor extracted from an old bar that once was in Navasota Texas that now is the ceiling in the second story of my house. kind of in my families old age tradition of what was down is now up kind.
