Does anyone have any recipes for spray or something for insect control or repellent, on vegetable plants that won't harm the bees?

Soak a few cigarettes in water overnight and filter it clean. The nicotine extracted into the water is poisinous to insects (like it is to people). Before the modern "fancy" sprays became accepted, nicotine was the method of choice for many garden extermination aplications.
