A regular bee sting aside, has anyone heard of a bee sting infection? This is the post in a Facebook page that had me wondering.....Unfortunately, I did get an infection from a honeybee this past summer which shocked me. I had never had a reaction and four members of our beekeeping club also experienced infections around the same time. It was very strange could this be from a particular flower in bloom at the time? Or from molds etc in the air? Any thoughts on it?

Never heard of such. Every time I get a sting in the palm of my hand it swells after a couple of hours, is a bit painful but manageable. The swelling goes away in a day or two.

I have, on many occasions gotten an infection at the site of a sting. Just a small puss-filled "pimple" that doesn't hurt or anything. I open it up and clean it out and that's the end of it. I've never had any serious or complicating infection as a result of a sting.
