I just got a call from a lady @ the Luvs truck stop in St Joeseph, Missouri. There was a bee truck and trailer that went through earlier and has left a bunch of bee's in the lot!!!! She said one whole truck cab was covered in bee's along with a BUNCH of others flying around. I am now in Alaska so cant help! If anyone is local please call 816-205-5337 . Grab your vac and get some extra helpers!!!!!

If they were left without a hive and a queen, by the time someone gets there they will probably have dispersed.

my guess would be drifter thru a very porous bee net.

Could have been running w/out nets at all. I do that for short runs. But I get filled up before loading. Unless I forget.

Non-beeks, when estimating the number of bees they see, tend to multiply their numbers by several tens or more.
I've been called to deal with "enormous" swarms that were barely the size of a fist.

I think your estimation of numbers by non bee keepers is about right efmesch. what would you bet that 'the whole truck covered in bees' was a cluster the size of your fist?

I do recall my own migratory days and the effect you would see on the folks at the Flying J and Luv truck stops. kind of reminded me (at the time) of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea.

Maybe we should place an order for special "smileys" unique to beekeepers. A panic one would probably get a lot of use.:chased:
