Figured the title would get people to open this one!

Anyway, I am gearing up to make sweet pickles. This recipe calls for the cuke slices to be "breaded" in sugar before packing in a jar. (Odd, yes, but Oh so good!) Anyway, this method leaves me with a big bowl of sugar that I have rolled vinegar-soaked cucumber slices through.

Any harm in feeding this to the bees? If not... feed it plain? or make it into syrup?

Guess they would just avoid it if it's no good. I'm just trying not to be wasteful. And would prefer to feed the bees rather than the ants.

It's a very old recipe that they have changed the name in order to take credit for it. My mother, grandmother, ETC. made "8 day" pickles for the last hundred years or more.

BTW, it's a very good sweet pickle.

>>>>My word...How old are these people..<<<<

You mean how old would they be if they were still here.

My mother was born in 1912. She was, I think, the 6th child. How old would that make my grandmother?

Heck, BJ, I'm antique , myself. :p

Don't worry, Bjorn! I got your joke! Must be yankee humor.

There are quite a number of 8-day pickle recipes out there, but most mix the sugar in the vinegar for the last few days' soaking. This is the only one I've found that does not. Everything else is pretty much the same.
