I walked by my hive today and noticed a few dead larvae on the ground. I watched for awhile and they were bringing out a couple of normal dead bees and a couple that looked like they were abnormally formed. I had laying workers in a hive I combined with a queenright hive so I suspect they are getting rid of abnormal brood and mongoloid bees. :) There wasn't many but I was just curious.

I would say you are correct about cleaning out the abnormal brood. The normal dead bees could have been killed if there was a little bit of fighting going on.

I would guess the drones being reared in worker cells.
