Bees in Oriole Feeder

1420 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Hobie
What does one do when the bees are feeding out of the oriole feeder?

I had this happen last August, but it was dry and nothing was blooming. Right now the yard is full of clover, privet, daisies, raspberries, lilies, and miscellaneous and sundry other wildflowers, not to mention the veggie garden. The oriole food is a watery 1 sugar:4 water ratio. What's up? Lazy bees?

Wouldn't be so bad, but the bees, in that quantity, seem to scare off the hummingbirds.

Most feeders have adjustable "flowers". Pull or screw them out a bit and the bees can't reach in far enough to get the water.
