Is this normal to see so many bees on the front of the hive in the evening? I have a screened bottom board and the top cover is closed since i have a top hive feeder in place.

Yes, that is normal. It is when there are too many bees for them to cool the hive with all them inside, so some go outside and wait till it cools down. It is a sign of a strong hive.

Yes, think of the ladies as sitting on the front porch enjoying a mint julep and fanning themselves. :D
