I was pleased to find all of my hives buzzing. They came up and said hello to me several times. I tried to encourage them to hold on just a little longer, ha! I bought some sugar at Walmart tonight for a some miniature sugar/candy boards, more like rounds. I lay them on the inner cover utilizing the space created by the vent super. This should help assist them during these important months of February and March when they are starting to rev up. I have learned the hard way on a few hives that these two months are crucial. Mixed up some candy tonight to place on the hives tomorrow. The infrared thermometer is not the best for monitoring the temperature. It only measures the surface. So, need to buy another candy thermometer. 10lbs sugar, 1 quart water and 1 tbls lemon juice (sometimes I use vinegar) until 250F on medium high heat. I added some anise hyssop for extra fun for the bees. Will add another video tomorrow when I place them out.
