I just thought I would throw this out in case anyone was looking for a pair. I enjoy sitting out by the hives and watching the comings and goings, seeing the color of pollen coming in etc. I bought a pair of close focus binoculars last summer and it has made the watching so much more enjoyable. They are the Carson JK Series. I got the 8X42, but they also make 10X42. All the other close focus I looked at ranged from about $200 to as much as $500. You can find the Carsons online for less that $90. They are waterproof and have a real quality feel to them. Plus the optics are very good. You can focus within 6ft according to Carson, but mine will get near 5ft. I sit about 6ft from the closest hive and the farthest away is about 20ft. With these binoculars its like you are a foot from the entrance. They have three different settings for eye relief in case you wear glasses while viewing. For the price I think they are a great deal.
