Comparing alternative methods for holding virgin honey bee queens before mating

    It would also be interesting to know what there actual mating rate of the one week old queens is. Nice to know that someone has looked inot the differences inholding them though.

    Is one week about the max a queen can be held this way?

    Couldn't get the link to work. Last summer I banked 20 virgins on an excluder over a queen right hive. Had good success mating them and I used them as I got the nucs ready. Some were there over a week. My take was around 70%, which is normal for me with fresh virgins.
