I have been fortunate to have had good success in accurately locating colonies inside walls prior to doing a cutout. Between close observation, discussion on the construction, and use of a stethoscope, I have been able to pinpoint my targets. It has always been a concern, though, that my best guess would be wrong and I would cut out a section of wall...only to learn that the colony is actually a long ways away.
Has anyone ever experienced such surprises? It would be interesting to hear of any such accounts and the circumstances.
Thanks

I've been following your postings with great interest. I'm a first year beekeeper and am learning much from reading everything I can. I, too, would be interested in this subject-I can see me responding to my first cut-out and totally mess it up. Thank you for bringing this up.
