We just sent off our deposit to hold a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon puppy from a local breeder (two+ hours away is local for this breed!). We reserved the last female puppy of the litter. We can pick her up in July.

My usual inclination is toward a "pound puppy", but the local shelters near us only seem to have pit-bulls and pit-mixes. I have nothing against the breed, they are just not what we are looking for, we want a working-hunting breed.

    Candidates:

    • English Springer (my personal favorite, up until 3~4 years ago we had "Kringle" for 15+ years. He was the best!)
    • Brittany
    • Vizsla
    • but my youngest son found the video above and fell in love with the breed.

The more we read about them, the more sold on the idea everyone became. My boys don't have a clue yet... ...it should be a huge surprise for all three.

If she's really as intelligent as the you-tube film says, she should have no problem learning to leave your bees do their own thing, and stay out of trouble.
