I want to start a hive, but can't find anything on NJ denying beekeeping, just that i missed out on getting a free hive a few years ago, seems Nj had a grant to get into beekeeping, my luck though huh? If you know, please let me know thanks.

There is no state that bans bee hives. There may be a local city or township law.

There are grants for beginners to get a hive, our local club sponsored five or six this year. If I remember correctly....the state put up 1/2 of the money and the club the other 1/2 for a complete hive less the bees.

Also in TN there is a TAEP program that will pay for 50% of many things if you will take the classes they offer, get into contact with your local ag extension agent and a club that is in your county.
