A swarm I caught earlier this year has been a honey producer, already filling up a 9 frame medium and have another 9 frame medium about 50% ready. When I checked them this week, I finally noticed they have not drawn out but half the foundation in the two deeps I originally put the swarm in. After I caught the swarm, I pulled one frame of honey and stores from my strongest hive and put it in the bottom deep to help them get started and all the other frames had bare foundation. In no time they had drawn out 6 or 7 frames in the deeps so I added a honey super with all bare foundation just to see if while they were drawing comb if they would draw it out as well. It seems they quit drawing comb in the deeps and moved up to the medium honey super. They have drawn out 14 frames in two honey supers but have not done anything else in the two deeps. My plan is to pull the honey super off when it's ready, probably later this week, and not add another one back until they have drawn out the foundation in the two deeps. Any suggestions or advice on what I should have done / do different?
