Our Electric Company wants to send us 2 free trees to plant near the house for shade to save energy.....don't ask....lol. Anyway, here is the list to choose from:

    Washington Hawthorne
    Sugar Maple
    White Dogwood
    American Beech
    River Birch
    Bald Cypress
    Hackberry

Which 2 would be best for the bee forage?

    Thanks!

Sugar Maple, IMHO. It will produce the first pollen in the spring and they feed off the sap if there's a cut in the bark.

Just remember the root system and eventual size when planting "near" the house.

    50-70ft in 20 years

plant on sw to wsw side if really wanting to save energy....... Also say goodbye to grass under them.
