Fruitless Fall: The Collapse of the Honey Bee and the Coming Agricultural Crisis
by Rowan Jacobsen written in 2007 in the middle of the crisis

As a new Beek I have embarked on education and was given this book to read - Rowan is an excellent storyteller, and while a fair amount of info was in my beekeeping books , he opened my eyes to a number of things.

The copy I have has a 2008 update too.

    Worth the $16 on amazon

I'll have to put that book next on my list. I just got "The Wisdom of the Hive" by T. Seeley.

does this mean 'my girls' are doomed to die? like the '9 mortal men' in the Lord of the Rings.

I think I shall just go ahead and throw in the towel and then go and hide in my closet.
