Until swarm time, is a scout just a forager ,or do they scout for food for the foragers also. I was wondering what they do in the "off season".

I would think a scouts duties are to discover nectar, pollen, propolis or future home sites. which depends somewhat on season. from what I have read scouts tend to be older bees.
