Got a call last night from my supervisor, a few jobs ago. I saw his son last election day and while shooting the ... I said something about my beeking. So I went over to see what he had : 2 hives with a lot of wax moth damage. One thing that I'm only guessing is for honey comb. So how would one go about cleaning up the frames ? Knife ? heat gun..It all needs some love before it could be used. So what now?

take your hive tool and give them the once over, add new foundation and good to go!

the black things are for making ross rounds, look them up in Kelley's catalog.

If you have a solar wax extractor, you could place the frames inside and have the wax melt off the frames.and then re-foundation them. BTW, that wax moth damage is far from terrible.

    That is a great score.

bees will clean up most of it too if you just put it back. Spray some BT so wax moths never do it again. I now spray all frames after first year of use. Helps a bundles to keep wax moths away.
