So my three year old daughter doesn't quite know how games are supposed to work. Or does she? After watching me play checkers with her older brothers, she wanted to play, too. OK, so she moves a piece all over the board in wacky circles and then picks up one of my pieces and throws it back in the box. So this is how she interprets what she sees us doing. Fine, I do the same thing, move one my pieces all around the place and end up throwing one of her pieces in the box. This goes back and forth and she starts imitating how her brothers and I play: "Oh, was this your piece? Sorry sucker." And gives a little "Bronx Cheer" as she throws my piece in the box. She's just pleased that she knows how to play a big people game, so she's giggling with every turn. So when the last piece gets thrown in the box and the board is empty, I say, "OK, so who won?" And she says, "We did."
