Goldenrod types

    I took these this morning. 9/16/09

    The first picture is a side by side of the two main types here. The first to bloom is what I call "popcorn" goldenrod. The last of the blooms is on the right, next to the yet to be opened main goldenrod, which is "stringy". The early stuff starts in August, and many years it is too dry for bees to get anything from it. (backyard)

    The second picture is from a main goldenrod plant in full bloom. (frontyard)

    The third picture is a group of goldenrod next to some nucs that has not opened yet. It showed the longer stings of flowers and will open in a couple days. (sideyard)
