green bee

    a newspaper photogragher sent me a pic of this green bee can any of you identify it for me. cant say that I have ever seen one like it. The photographer said it had pollen in its baskets when it left

    Wow, I took a photo in my garden last month of the very same bee on one of my calendula flowers! I too would like to know what species it is. here is mine:

    That's what we've always called them. I didn't know if it was the right thing, or just a local name.

    halictidae, I believe. Though I'm not sure about the spelling. Neat little critters.
