I'm getting back to beekeeping this year after a 10-12 year absence.
I have a small sawmill and make all of my own woodenware except frames.
Another local beek gave me one of his swarms last week, so I'm back in.
All of the reading that i have done lately points to some new problems facing this industry/hobby, and sites like this one appears to have answers.

Glad to see you posting in additin to being a registered member.
When I first started with bees over 40 years ago, you could almost leave your hive alone and just add supers and collect honey. Since then, (maybe because a lot of beeks did just that) the problems have piled on high and anyone who wants to keep his bees has to really care for and take care of them. "Let alone beekeeping" is a thing of the past.
We try to share our knowledge to keep our heads above the water. Glad to have you joining in the swim.

Welcome Toby! I am very new to bees here. I constructed all of my hives also but like you, didn't build the frames. I thought I could but after receiving them and looking them over, I will pass..too much custom carving to be time effecient for me...Dave
