Hello, I''m new to beekeeping. This year in NH, I started with 2 nucleus colonies. I am using mediums throughout and both hives have expanded to 3 mediums with 1 super. The aviary I purchased equipment from recommended that I feed through the summer with 1-1 sugar water and pollen patties which I have done and am still doing. I performed an inspection today and found the top super about 1/2 capped honey, first box down was loaded with honey, brood and bees. The started to get agitated at that point. (I was attempting a powdered sugar roll but was unable to continue inspection, hive got too active). My questions are 1. How to inspect a large 3 medium hive with 1 super. Bees got agitated after super removal and when I started poking around in box 3. (1 at bottom then 2up then 3 then super) 2. My goal was to do a powdered sugar roll to check/treat for mites. Should I just treat. 3. If I am treating do I treat the middle (#2 box, with 3 medium brood boxes and 1 super). 4. Should I continue to feed them? It's only August. Thanks in advance.
