I was just wandering if any one on this forum skins and tans hides as a hobby?

It's always been somewhat a fantasy of mine to have a buckskin shirt, mom wants a doeskin coat with rabbit fur lining, and baby beek wants moccasins with rabbit fur on the inside to wear around the house. I think it would be neat to do as a hobby, or maybe I'm just nuts.

    any way, thanks in advance.

No tanning here, always wanted to try it but never got around to it. Have skinned out all kinds of critters and dried the pelt but never did anything with them.

Sorry, I can't help. I think maybe you could just chew on the hides, the old fashioned way... :D

My dad used to do a good job of it on my butt with a willow switch.

The only hide I know of that got "tanned" was mine  , as a child (I wasn't very good).
