    Just an FYI,

Both Home Depots in my area have their 1x8 12 footers on clearence for 8 dollars. regular 12.95.
You can almost get 2 mediums out of a 12 footer.

Just thought I would pass this on. I think I may load up and make mediums all winter.

Here is my new boxes I am making. Made everything but the frames. Stand, bottom boards and deeps.

They look great. Lumber yards in Florida sell 1x8s for 75 or 85 cents a foot and it is much better quality lumber. I do go by the cull bins at HD regularly though.

Guess I'm lucky. Reg price for a 12ft 1x8 is $5.79 at the menards here.

Dang oblib, that almost makes it worth making your own. I make mine from wood I have scrounged. but the price of lumber makes it cheaper to just buy pre made but unassembled boxes. Frames will never be worth it as long as I can buy them at 44 cents each.

Last I looked an 8 foot 1X12 cost around $15 here.

I do need about 9 med boxes before spring since i now have 4 hives started. Not exactly sure what I am goign to do. I don't want to buy the lumber but cannot be certain I will find it either. It's tough being a tight wad.

Yep, I made all my equipment except for frames. Went from 0 to 25 this year. Had the tools to build them and the time so only cost was the lumber. I know some would say your time is worth something but, if you gonna be sitting in front of tv or comp then its really not:shock:

I could make mine, but lumber is so high for junk wood that I just buy the commerical grade and paint it good. Beside my shop is not heated or ac and I am not going to burn up or freeze building bee hive or anything else for that matter. I get to hot just going into the hives, like this morning 75 degrees, suited up to take the wax I took from the honey I got the other day I had put in top of hive and I still sweated bad. Buying mined, yes Brushy Mountain likes that.

    OK,

    Stopped at local builders supply.

    1x12 8ft 8.00
    1x12 12ft 13.03
    1x8 8ft 4.44
    1x8 12ft 6.67

I should be able to build deeps for 6.40 and mediums for 3.55 I like it:thumbsup:

I have been paying to much.
