Home work for the young'uns

    These young girls found some work close to home; walking distance actually as the bloom leans against the hive. 011.jpg 007.jpg 005.jpg

    Next two nucs getting a newspaper combine. The old queen from the tall hive (below) never got going in the nuc. I pulled her in case they were preparing to swarm but I guess it was supercedure they were up to for a good reason.

    Next a hive I didnt split, only pulled a nuc and some brood frames. A thunderstorm forecast last night so I moved the ladder up close and added the cement block for stability. Looks like I may have to extract soon but in the meantime the bees are keeping the honey warm and bug free. The lower boxes were drawn comb and the top one bare plastic so that will slow them down a bit. They should be in the process of requeening but I am not about to go in there checking on the progress!

    Looks like your going to have a nice bunch of honey....we have the same grey paint for our boxes...lol Tom
