I guess when you don't sell hives soon enough, you have to harvest the honey. I got 10 gallon out of 4 supers today. Had help with the extracting, but all that watching sure made me tired. Had to come home and take a nap. Totally tuckered out. :roll:

The rain killed us this year ! The bees brought in very little necter.Not enough for them to make it. We have already had to start feeding.It's going to be a long summer. Jim

We had alot of rain this year but the girls made alot of honey, some light and thin some almost black and thick as molasses? ( have know idea what they made that from). Trouble is i have to let it cure in the buckets to much moisture content ( checkin 19% to 21% ). We are still in a honey flow ( sweet clover) seems odd to be thinking about winter already but the aster and goldenrod's are not far off. Jack

You guys sound like you had the same kind of weather we had here. A few days of sun and just when things would start to bloom the rains would wash everything out. My hives are on the light side and hoping for some good flow this fall. don't guess I will get any honey this year, well maybe a frame or two for myself, biscuts, pancakes........

We had the same here in Colorado, just south of me they had an inch of rain in 15 minutes. Bad flooding the whole 9 yards, glad it missed us

it pretty much looks like scorched earth here. we may get a spell from the heat since it is only suppose to be 99 for most of the coming week.

likely thru next week in the early pm I will peel off a tad bit more of he sweet sticky stuff.

I really can't complain about the rain. Year before last only one cutting of hay. Last year got two good cuttings. This year might get three.

There is a cave with an underground lake not far away "the Lost Sea", I think they said the water level had fallen something like 25 feet year before last.

I might have to start feeding a couple of the lazy hives soon.

actually had pretty good flow, that kept gonig long enough for the bees to draw out full depth supers, and seal two full supers--got to love the beauty of those ultra white cappings, and the 55 - 60 pounds of honey per super had 2 supers). Iddee--didn't have the luxary of sweating it out watching someone else extracting--have hand crank two frame ( for the full depth frames ) dadant extractor. still nice haul. for the rest of the season unless there is a exceptional fall flow the rest is theirs.
