How long after setting the cone and sealing all the entrances should it be before there are no more bees coming from the cone and the colony has no bees?

4 to 8 weeks, if they don't find a way back in. If they do, the 4 to 8 weeks starts all over again.

While I think of it Iddee, is there a way of setting up a bait box without using a frame of brood and eggs so that the bees still use it?

    Your choices are as follows:

    Eggs and larva.....

    Mated queen

    Queen right nuc

    Laying workers

The last one is NOT desirable.
