How long to keep feeding sugar water?

They are taking about 1 to 1 1/2 quarts of sugar water a day (the stronger hives). Do I continue as long as they will take it? Sorry for so many questions, I thought it would be better to put them on separate threads so that they could be dealt with separately. Please let me know if Im not following forum etiquette. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I will check out the local beekeeping clubs; also I know a local commercial beekeeper who i could ask for info. He parks some nucs here every spring.
