Where i want to put mine gets it 6-8 hours a day of sun, is that enough? How about the wild honeybee hives i've seen in the woods. They are in a tree in the MIDDLE of the woods, they cant be getting that much sun?

Unless you live far enough south to have Small Hive Beetles, they can do fine in the shade. The more sun, the better, but 6 to eight hours is fine. The reason for facing south is to block the north winds and cold in the winter from blowing into the entrance.
