Most bug netting is quite fine and you will have a hard time seeing eggs through it. Ok it can make up into something cheap to keep the bees off your head and neck but if you want good visibility for doing hive inspection metal screen is superior.

    Veil Colour

I can remember being told that visibility is better through a black or dark veil.

    Anyone confirm ?

I am thinking of replacing the part of my veil in front of my eyes with a patch of #8 mesh painted black. I can't see eggs through a veil to save myself.

Veils are so cheap , $14 ...... But not difficult to make, soft can be a challenge because if it doesnt stay away from your skin, ,you will know about it

And yes dark mesh is critical
