My parents invited my family out to dinner monday night. We went to a little out of the way place in the heart of Memphis, Tn. We were seated on the patio, near the edge. My husband and I were at the end of the table, when we noticed we could smell honey. We began looking around, and my mom wanted to know what we were doing. "looking for bees". "why?". "because we can smell honey." "stop it you look ridiculous!" Of course, we didn't stop. We saw a vine creeping up the side of the restaurant, and it was covered in honey bees. "We'll be right back!" we jump up, go over the short wall surrounding the pation and commence looking for the beekeeper we hoped was nearby. My mother looked like she wanted to drop through the floor! We didn't find the beekeeper, but we enjoyed the look on my family's faces when we came back to the table!

Funny how you can recognize something just by smell, that others can not.

Sometimes you can find bee trees this time of year, goldenrod honey has a familiar funky smell and you might catch a whiff out in the woods.
