I am not sure where this post should be placed. Now now!!! Whilst making up some pollen slides to show the sructure of pollen grains, I came across three objects that at first appeared as ice cubes. I carried out the normal proceedure for making slides and also because of the 'objects' I needed to see if there was any problems with the stain ed jelly that was being used. I made up a slide of the stained jelly - and that was clear of any 'objects'. I made up a slide of the IPA and pollen grains - again no 'objects' to be found. The first shot is of the 'objects' with straight lines and looking as if they are ice cubes. Ice 2.JPG[/attachment:rzpbfjhc] Next was the same cubes but a day later where we can see it begining to decompose. Selection 3 x100.JPG[/attachment:rzpbfjhc] Then a close up of the edges to try to identify what these 'objects' couldbe. Selection 4 x400.JPG[/attachment:rzpbfjhc] Selection 6 x400.JPG[/attachment:rzpbfjhc] All comments would bee greatly recieved. Regards;
You didn't sneeze while preparing the slides did you? I have no clue what I'm looking at. Last picture looks like a shot of Mars with a mountain rift. :?
Many thanks for the comments. No I don't have a cold and did not sneeze, great sence of humour. I think they must be crystals of some formation as we can see the breakup of the layers beging to happen. Oh well on with the show. Regards;
Hi Hobie, I don't think its a pesticed crystal as it would be a different shape, it would be more round than what is there. I think its gelitine crystals that were not heated properly. To be honest I do not know. Regards;
