Hello everyone

I don't know if this is one of my bees (chances are good that it is) - is that a mite on its left hand side just below it's wing??. Out of interest I'd be gatefull if someone could confirm either way.

Thanks

Mark

It definitely looks like one to me. That is the location that I found mites on some drones. I have been told that they will also attach themselves to the bottom of the bees, do not know how true this is.

Not clear enough to make a positive observation for me. Looks a bit small to be an adult mite which is what I might expect to see on a forager. Could be something else, hard to see or say.

OK thanks. I'll make a point to look for it when I'm in any of my hives in future.

Guyross2:

Good picture, this is roughly the size of what I would expect to see on a foraging bee. (not to say the other picture isn't perhaps a young mite if it is at all)
