Let us know when you decide whether you have a queen or not. I'm in the shop getting ready for a few swarms, we are just a bit behind you here in North Central Texas. :)

Ok, so I've been told many times and I've read many places that swarms are very docile and it is rare for the bees in a swarm to sting. Looking at a couple of JP's videos, that doesn't seem to be entirely true . . . Is the "docile" swarm a myth, or are Louisiana bees just mean?

If a swarm has been sitting there for a while (maybe a couple days) I don't imagine they would be too happy. Reserves would be getting low, etc.
If the weather was so-so (as it seemed to be in this video) it might upset them a bit.
(I figure these girls just knew who they were dealing with). :rolling:

Perry hit it on the head, the weather was a huge factor here, a bit nippy. As it warms up they should get nicer. Not all swarms are created equal but for the most part they tend to be on the gentle side.

Maybe it's just me, but I never seemed to notice JP getting stung in most of his videos posted here. But suddenly Schawee is in the picture and BANG, they get lit up!
    Coincidence? Hmmmmmm!

Schawee's favorite thing to do besides drinking huge vanilla shakes is rubbing alarm pheromone on the back of my cap when I have my hands full. Sucka is slick, you gotta watch him!
