We arrived in Lapaz August 24, LaPaz is at the top of t mountian, and is built in a shallow valley the Airport El Atlo sits a 13600 ft above sea level and the city of Lapaz a bit lower at 12600 ft to 13000 ft as the city expands up the walls of the valley there is a community the surrounds the " rim" of the bowl that Lapaz sits in.
I wanted to post pictures but apparently can't "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."
If I have misunderstood the message please let me know. For those of you that are foodies then you will do well in Bolivia--while not McDonalds--which is here as well as burger king, and even Wendy's but the food is excellant and diverse. Came back SUnday night 10 hours on my sore butt in airplane ouch!!! I really believe I found where I couild retire to. Bolivia terrain goes from the Alto Plano ( high Plateau ) to the Amason River Basin and the true tropics.

Sounds absolutely beautiful! Is LaPax in an old caldera? I know very little about that area.

Perhaps you can post to Photobucket.com or a similar site and just post a link here.

Sounds like you found a small paradise of sorts, glad you had a good time.

Did you see any beekeeping while you were there?

WOW talk about a crowded city! I'm with Walt an that one, not what I had imagined for sure.

Very nice scenery though, and the snow covered volcano is fantastic.

I am glad you had a good time there!

Oh my, the rooftops! Beautiful, but I think I would need more open space.

I am hungry for empanadas, though!

It's beautiful to look at but I wouldn't like everything being so crowded! I feel claustrophobic where I am now so packed in like sardines would not be a good thing

Glad you made it back safely and that you had a good trip.
