keep feeding packages?

    I have a few packages here in nj. Do u feel its necessary to continue feeding sugar water or let them Gather there own stores?

    JMHO: Let them get their own stuff. I'm 10 minutes from you and there is a plethora of nectar sources available right now.

    it sounds to me like the time line for feeding/not feeding is somewhat blurred here. are the packages you referring to just established or was this done some time ago?

    The packages where installed back in march and april aNd I have a set from early may.

    Bees will actually stop taking sugar syrup when there is a nectar flow, by maintaining a constant syrup supply the only thing your feeding is the ants and mould that will grow in it. When the nectar flow in your area is done, they will again take syrup. The rule was feed the bees till they stop taking it, then stop feeding them.
